Mission Owasso

Is a ministry of First Baptist Owasso’s to under resourced people in need. Mission Owasso provides services for people within our church and community. This ministry is based on God’s provision promise in Philippians 4:19,

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”

Location & Hours

Mission Owasso is located at 708 N. Main in Owasso. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10:00am – 2:00pm. Friday, 1:30pm – 5:30pm. 918.516.6638 or need-help@fbcowasso.org.

We serve a mighty God and we know He can and does provide for us all. God has abundantly blessed the people of First Baptist Owasso and we want to share our blessings with others. The Under Resourced Ministry is comprised of the following Teams:

Car Care Ministry

Quarterly the Men’s Ministry hosts a Saturday Car Clinic featuring minor repairs, oil changes and preventative maintenance targeted for Senior Adults, single parents and those widowed.

Senior Food Ministry

This ministry is geared toward senior adults in our community. We assist seniors by providing monthly groceries to anyone 55 and older that may need some assistance with food at the end of each month. We have teams that sack and deliver these groceries along with reading material, daily essentials and they provide companionship to our seniors. This ministry is currently delivering food  to over 80 seniors in our community. Donations include: canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats (tuna, chicken, etc), soups of all kinds, pasta meals, pasta and rice side dishes, microwave meals, helper meals (hamburger, chicken and tuna), cereal, oatmeal packets, macaroni and cheese, Ramen noodles, peanut butter and jelly, graham crackers, saltines, cookies, snack items (pudding, Jello, raisins) and fruit juices. These items should be in sizes for a single adult or couples. Donations may be dropped off at the church or the Mission.

Little Angels Assistance Ministry

This ministry provides items that are needed to care for children to age 10. These items include diapers in all sizes, formula (most requested Carnation Good Start), wipes, baby cereal, baby food, seasonal clothing in size birth to 10-12, shoes in good condition, cribs, strollers, pack and play, bouncy seats, blankets, crib sheets, baby bottles, baby shampoo, baby lotion, any baby item. Donations may be dropped off at the church or the Mission.

Wild Wednesday

This is for anyone in the community that could use extra groceries to help them through the week. No application, no requirements, this is done every Wednesday, no exceptions. We receive fresh fruits and vegetables, breads, cakes, pies, dairy products and canned items. We open our doors at 9 am.

 

Daily Essentials

This ministry provides personal hygiene items that cannot be purchased with Food Stamps. These are items that we use daily and take for granted such as toilet paper (most requested item), toothbrushes, toothpaste, men and women deodorant, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, dish soap, laundry soap, disinfectants, feminine products, adult disposable briefs. These items may be donated by dropping off at the church or the Mission.

Pass It On Furniture Ministry

Furniture in StorageThis ministry picks up donations of furniture and delivers furniture to those in need. Donated items must be gently used or new items without stains, tears or odors and in good condition. Items we do not accept are any gas appliances, sleeper sofas, extra large items, musical instruments, computers, wall decorations, and outdoor furniture. This ministry delivers each Saturday and needs volunteers that are available once every other month to help.

English Language Learners

This is a team that works with Internationals interested in learning to speak English.

Tools of  H.O.P.E. Financial Counseling

The Financial Counseling Ministry assists with training people on how to gain control of their finances.

Book Ministry

This ministry collects books for the use of handing out to the children that come into the mission with their parents.  We also collect books and magazines for adults that we hand out to the seniors in our Senior Food Ministry.

Home Improvement Ministry

The Home Improvement Ministry provides assistance to those who need minor household repairs.  This ministry is for senior adults, single parents and those who would otherwise not be able to afford the repair work.

Community Thanksgiving Feeding Ministry

This team prepares Thanksgiving dinner for people in Owasso, seniors in our Senior Food Ministry and other local groups.

Utility Assistance

We work with local churches to provide assistance on a once-a-year basis for utilities.
