When are your services?
We currently have 3 weekend services – Sunday morning at 9:00 and 10:30 AM and Sunday night at 6:00 PM. We use Wednesday nights for preparation and training from 6:00 – 9:00 PM.

Is there a difference between your different weekend services?
Our 2 Sunday morning services are identical. The style, content and message for each of the morning services are the same. The Sunday evening New Community service is more relaxed and focused more on church body life and special events.

Do I have to be a member of the church to participate in the Christian Arts Ministry?
NO! And Yes. You do not have to be a church member to participate in most of the Christian Arts Ministry. The only groups where church membership is required are the Auditioned Praise Teams, Celebration Praise Band, and any leadership roles within the different parts of the CAM.

Do I have to audition to be in the adult Celebration Choir?
NO! No audition for the adult choir is required. Simply come 3 times in a row with the intention of joining and you can be an official member of the friendliest, greatest choir on earth!

When does the choir sing?
Almost every Sunday during both morning worship services and in special events such as Christmas, Easter, or 4th of July.

Do I have to sing in the choir in order to sing a solo?
Every Sunday we’re trying to accomplish a very specific goal. We are attempting to lead people in worship. This is about more than having the ability to sing well, it’s a matter of the heart. We ask everyone interested in singing a solo to be actively involved somewhere in the Christian Arts Ministry. This allows us to get to know you and allows you to fully understand the purpose and process of each of our services. If singing is your talent be actively involved in the choir or on the auditioned praise teams. We need you!

If I’m singing a solo or participating in a drama will I serve in all of the morning services or just one?
Since the content of our morning services is identical anyone asked to participate in our morning services is being asked to participate in both.

When are sound checks?
Sound checks for the morning services begin at 7:45 AM. For the evening, New Community service, sound checks begin at 4:30pm.

Do I have to be an incredible musician, experienced actor or technical guru before I join the Christian Arts Ministry?
NO! People who serve in the Christian Arts Ministry come from all walks of life and have various amounts of experience, talents, and backgrounds. We have people in our choir who know nothing about music other than they enjoy it. We also have members who have earned music degrees. In each area of the Christian Arts Ministry we have people who are brand new to their task and people who are experts. We combine our talents, resources and knowledge to learn more, accomplish more, and together become greater than we are on our own!

What big events does the Christian Arts Ministry produce every year?
The Christian Arts Ministry produces several major events a year. The first full weekend in December we produce a Christmas Festival designed to give people a fun place to bring their friends and family to celebrate the Christmas season and to hear the truth of the Gospel. Each year we do something special to celebrate Easter and Independence Day. We also have several other special events throughout the year.

Is childcare available during rehearsals and services?
Professional, age-appropriate childcare-Bible Study takes place during all regular rehearsal and service times. For special events special arrangements are made for our kids!

How old do I have to be before I can be involved in the Christian Arts Ministry?
We have something for every age group in the Christian Arts Ministry. Whether you sing, act, play, or run the technical tools we have a place for you. Generally members of the Celebration Choir need to have completed high school. Members of the Instrumental Ensemble need to have 2 years experience on their instrument. And we use students as camera operators in the Technical Arts Ministry. If you’re interested but unsure ask a member of that group! Regardless of your age we have a place for you!

Does First Baptist hire professional musicians?
All musicians, outside paid staff and contracted musicians are volunteers. These volunteers participate as an expression of their P.L.A.C.E. and desire to use their talents for God in ministry.

Do the same musicians play for every service?
Every Sunday finds us doing something different in our services. Some weeks we may have a full orchestra while others it may be a simple acoustic piano set. Regardless of the Sunday the Celebration Praise Band serves as the house band for FBCO. If you’re interested in serving in the Celebration Praise Band contact the Minister of Music for an interview and audition!

What software do you use to present text on screen during your services?
When we are singing we use EZWorship, a software package designed specifically for that purpose. During the pastor’s message we use Microsoft PowerPoint.

Who designed the sound, video, and lighting for the Worship Center?
The sound, lighting and projection systems were designed and installed by FORD A/V of Tulsa, OK, 918.664.2420 or www.fordav.com. Most elements of the Front of House and Broadcast video system have been designed by the Technical Arts Ministry Team.

What kind of video editing equipment do you use?
Currently we use 2 different nonlinear editing systems, a PC system based around the Matrox RT-2500 and Adobe Premiere as well as a Mac system designed around Final Cut Pro. We also use a variety of graphics production software such as Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Inscriber, and other graphics production packages.

How does First Baptist find its talent and music resources?
As a church we believe that every member is a minister and that doing ministry is an expression of each Believers P.L.A.C.E. This gives us the opportunity to use the many gifts and talents of the members of our congregation. Although we sometimes employ guest musicians, we make a conscious effort to use and develop the talents of the people in our church. The more we know about the people of our church the better we can identify their gifts. Those who are gifted with abilities relating to our ministry become tremendous resources that God uses within the Christian Arts Ministry. We also find that offering various levels of commitment within our ministry enables more people to become involved.
