After the 1st several sessions of FAITH that I took over a year and half ago- I got the courage to ask my friend about her belief in God. To sum up the conversation, she told me she was agnostic and leaned more towards Buddhism more than anything. I invited her to church anyways. Last year, around September she called me out of the blue and asked if my invitation to church was still open, so she came with me twice. She was touched by the Spirit the first day, but opted out of receiving salvation then. She told me later that her heart was not ready, and when she decides to make the commitment, she would let me know.
That November when my mom was down visiting, she bought me the NIV bible on cd’s. I told my mom that I wanted to give it to Laura- so we did. (It worked out great, since our kids share the same birthday and we were celebrating it together.) In April I received a phone call from her, she told me she knew she could confide in me about her decision on a church and that I was not going to be happy. She chose to go to the Unitarian church- I didn’t know what that meant, so I had her explain it to me. I did not oppose her decision, however, I warned her that any church- no matter what they called themselves, if they promote anything other than exactly what the bible says, it is a deceptive church and is NOT from God.
We talked off and on ever since- I see her at least 3 times a week- so she knows how and why I live. Then the “Knot Care Ministry” developed, and she happened to be doing business with Baum Textiles at the time and gave me the referral. Once the fleece was here, I asked if she could help me cut at the church on Wednesday night with her son in child care- she did, and again the Spirit moved towards her. Last night she called me on her way home. She confided in me that she has been searching for the answers to her spiritual questions ever since she received the cds. She had been listening to the cd’s and Christian Talk Radio, and decided in her heart that she did not need to know all the answers she wanted to know about the bible (ex. When the earth was made? Where did Cain and Abel’s wives come from, etc.) but she knew she had to start somewhere and her heart was ready to say yes to Jesus. HALLELUJAH!
I asked several questions like if she knew what that meant, does she believe it can be taken away, and where does she go from here. She said she did believe that Jesus is the son of God, that He was put on the cross for her sins, and that God rose Him from the dead, and she repented. We prayed regarding these things, and she repeated a “sinners prayer” . We also asked for wisdom and discernment as she grows in Christ now.
She said because she saw how I lived, that is how she wants to live as a Christian- by action. I give God the glory for healing me from my past so I can live so freely to serve Him.
